About the role
Forward Deployed Engineers are the people who turn a messy real-world workflow into shipped software. You sit with the client’s functional leaders, learn the spreadsheets and handoffs and exceptions, and build the thing that changes how the work runs.
This is the most end-to-end engineering role we have. You scope it, you prototype it in week one, you productionalize it, and you stay to supervise and improve it. Delivery is the product.
What you'll own
- Embed with a client’s operations or engineering team and map the real workflow before writing code.
- Ship a first-cut, working prototype by the end of week one, built with coding agents like Claude Code.
- Productionalize agents on Gantry (our agent harness): memory, tools, evals, and human-in-the-loop supervision.
- Own the go / no-go conversation with the client honestly: no open-ended pilots.
- Stay after launch to correct, tune, and expand what you shipped.
What we're looking for
- 4+ years building and shipping production software, end to end.
- Strong with Python and/or TypeScript and comfortable in someone else’s messy codebase.
- You’ve put LLM-powered features in front of real users: you know where they break.
- Comfortable onsite with non-technical stakeholders; you translate business pain into systems.
- Bias to ship. You’d rather demo something rough on Friday than present a plan.
Nice to have
- Experience with agent frameworks, RAG, or eval pipelines.
- Background in a regulated or operations-heavy industry (manufacturing, finance, logistics).
